Wednesday is the new Thursday!
Toronto’s indie film and music fans will get another chance to watch their favourite stars under the stars, as the Open Roof Festival (ORF) returns for its sixth season, running every Wednesday from June 17 through to August 19. The 10-week festival offers urbanites an al fresco take on hit cinema from Canada and across the globe paired with live music by emerging artists in a variety of genres — a combination that has established ORF’s reputation as Toronto’s ultimate summer date night and meeting spot. ORF tickets are on sale now for $15 each and can be purchased through OpenRoofFestival.com.
This year, ORF will be returning to 99 Sudbury. Located at 99 Sudbury Street, just south of the Queen Street West and Dovercourt Road neighbourbood, the venue offers guests an intimate and accessible experience. Each week this summer the on-site caterer will present an unique, accompanying menu— the perfect pairing for a refreshing beer from ORF’s long-standing partner Amsterdam Brewery.
With a brain trust of industry insiders as founders, ORF has been successful throughout its first five seasons. CEO of Blue Ant Media, Michael MacMillan; Vice-President, Finance of Elevation Pictures, Sandra Singer; media and entertainment lawyer and film producer, Jordan Nahmias;and media, entertainment and technology manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers Burzin Contractor make up the team behind the series. All four share a passion for independent cultural enterprise, film and music, and possess individual skill sets that have come together to ensure the festival’s success.
“We are thrilled to bring Open Roof Festival back for its sixth year with what we believe to be the strongest and most diverse film and musical line-up to date,” said Jordan Nahmias, one of the festival co-directors and founders. “This year showcases films across multiple genres, including documentary, sci-fi and Open Roof Festival’s first horror film.”
