Michael Sniderman

Michael is an associate at Hall Webber LLP practicing in the areas of entertainment, intellectual property and corporate law. Michael works with a wide range of creative professionals, including both emerging and established television & film production companies, screenwriters, actors, directors, distributors, composers, songwriters, music producers, recording artists, visual artists, authors, publishers, photographers, animators and game designers.

Michael supports his film and television clients by negotiating and drafting agreements (including with regard to rights acquisition and chain-of-title, distribution, sales agents, broadcast licenses, above-the-line talent, and interprovincial/international treaty co-productions), and advising clients on production funding and interim financing, union and guild matters (including the WGC, WGA, DGC, DGA, ACTRA and SAG/AFTRA), and errors and omissions review.

Representing an array of clients in the creative industry, Michael also provides advice on the development, production and exploitation of music, literature/publishing and digital media projects, in addition to working with clients on matters of intellectual property protection and general corporate law.

Outside of his legal practice, Michael is currently the Chair and Chief Legal Officer on the Board of Directors for SuiteLife Arts for Youth, a registered charity that provides arts education and programs for Toronto’s youth. Michael also sits on the Board of Directors for The Theatre Centre, a registered charity and nationally recognized live-arts incubator.

Michael has a depth of experience in various creative industries. He is a lifelong musician and is always looking to learn new instruments. He was the producer and creative director for the (tragically now defunct) NBA podcast, “Back to the Basket”, which released more than 40 episodes and which stemmed from Michael’s passion for basketball and his beloved Toronto Raptors. In law school, Michael was also the Managing Editor of the Queen’s Law Student Newspaper, Juris Diction.
